Why make a donation or Fundraise ?
Inequality and lack of resources (financial, human, material, organizational) are, without question, the most serious problems facing education at all levels in the vast majority of African countries in general and Cameroon in particular.
The reality is, more than 85% of educational budget is taken up by salaries of teachers and other education personnel thus leaving government with very little to be spent on key educational inputs such as textbooks, libraries, science laboratories and equipment, let alone ICT infrastructure and capability, classrooms which are often overcrowded in cities and non-existent in many rural communities, qualified teachers, innovative instructional technology and relevant supportive infrastructure such as facilities for sports and other extra-curricular programs; improving extremely poor sanitation conditions and basic health facilities; complete and total lack of emotional, psychological support for pupils made worse by poor nutrition and family circumstances.
Unless and until we tackle the socio-economic difficulties schools and communities face, we will never ever be in a position to provide the quality of education needed to fight extreme poverty, raise aspirations, widen opportunities, equip people with the skills, knowledge, social values and attitude to cope with problems of living and working
- This is Government Secondary School Mbawrong in the North West Region of Cameroon, serving a local community population of over 25,000 people.
- £15 is enough to pay for school fees, uniform and exercise books for a child for the whole academic year
- £40 will pay the salary per month for a PTA employed computer science or IT technician in a secondary school in a socially deprived area
- £250 will provide good toilet facilities in a school thereby providing students and staff with good sanitation conditions especially girls who have no privacy at the moment
- £1000 will pay for a roof in a school so that students can attend during the rainy season and have a proper classroom floor which will prevent students becoming ill due to the dry dust
- £6000 will provide a secure room with 15 networked refurbished computer systems and pay for a technician to look after the computer laboratory for an academic year.
This is Government High School Kedjom Ketinguh in the North West Region of Cameroon, serving a local community population of over 30,000 people.
When you add them all up, every single penny makes a difference in transforming local schools and poor communities. We work closely with local schools, communities and organisations all around Cameroon and Africa.
No one understands better the issues that affect their communities than the local people themselves, and no one is better placed to address them. We don’t give to governments, and we don’t fund individuals. It goes directly to the people who need it.
Our long term vision can never become a reality without considering all issues in a logical and well thought through way. That is why we have created short term goals which you can help fulfil.

Our immediate aim is to raise £100,000, enough to fund the first phase of the SSIMPP – Sustainable School Improvement Programme.
In the first phase, we hope to run an effective local school-community partnership designed to equip Cameroonian rural and urban secondary schools with the necessary ICT infrastructure, equipment, resources, training and processes to enable learners, teachers and education managers to achieve their true potential.
This project will involve building environmentally sustainable classrooms; providing ICT infrastructure, equipment and training for all staff, students and the community; improving the quality of teaching and learning; improving the quality of educational leadership and management; promoting the welfare of pupils, parents and teachers.
Of course, we don’t want to stop there; that is just to get us on our way! One of the ways you can help is by donating in cash or kind to the charity. Although we don’t like asking for money, it is absolutely necessary to enable us to get to the people in need. Once projects are under way, you will be able to monitor the progress of our activities on the website and community blog.
If you would like to get a bit more involved, why not organise a fund-raising event in your local area, work-place, school or university. It does not have to take a lot of time, and can be fun. By doing this, you are not only raising funding for the project, but more importantly, increasing awareness of the plight of peoples around the world who have causes worth fighting for.
